Exciting news! BirdSoc SG will be launching the first ever eBirder of the Month challenge for Singapore! These challenges will be held quarterly, starting this June. This challenge is simple: all you have to do is submit 15 eligible checklists in Singapore between 1st to 30th June 2026 to complete it! We will randomly select 5 lucky eBirders who have completed the challenge to receive some of our new merchandise!
Checklists have to fulfill the following requirements to be eligible:
- Submitted for June 2026 (not historical observations) in Singapore
- Must be a complete and public checklist
- Include counts for all species (no X’s)
- At least 1 species recorded
- Between 3 minutes to 3 hours long
- Less than 4 km distance
Check out our article on eBird Best Practices for why these requirements help make a better checklist! The goal of this challenge is to have fun while contributing quality data to eBird Singapore – having more species on your checklist or recording more individuals of a particular species won’t increase your chances of winning.
We suggest using the eBird mobile application as it allows you to record your route via GPS tracking while you bird. In addition to being a more convenient way to record your observations in the field, this data can also be used for projects like eBird Status & Trends.
Prize winners will be contacted via their eBird-registered email by the first week of August.
So what are you waiting for? Go out and make some checklists this June! Happy birding!
