Monthly Roundups

Monthly Roundup: Dec 2023

Monthly Roundup: Dec 2023

Tufted Duck was the mega for December, but the two birds were only in view for a total of a few seconds. The wintering harriers at Tuas were a bit of a consolation prize, presenting the best views in years, and included an adult male Pied Harrier – the first wintering male in several years.

Highlights

  • Third record of Tufted Duck for Singapore, at Kranji Reservoir
  • First Himalayan Vulture for the season, with more following in January
  • Common Kestrel and both Pied Harrier and Eastern Marsh Harrier wintering at Tuas South
  • Black-thighed Falconet at Punggol; could it be the same individual as the one at Pasir Ris in July 2023 or Lorong Halus in June 2022?
