Malay Name: Layang-layang Api Utara

Chinese Name: 金腰燕

Range: Breeding Range: (EU, OR, AF) widespread

Taxonomy: Polytypic. Subspecies are: daurica, japonica, nipalensis, erythropygia, mayri, stanfordi, vernayi, striolata.

Size: 16-17 cm

Identification: Long-winged and long, deeply-forked tail. Glossy dark upperparts, streaked underparts, rufous rump.

Similar looking species: Barn Swallow, Pacific Swallow

Habitat: Aerial, widespread.

Behaviour/Ecology:

Local Status: Common migrant

Conservation Status: Least Concern (BirdLife International 2017)
