Scientific Name: Phylloscopus trochilus
Malay Name: Cekup-Daun Erasia
Chinese Name: 欧柳莺
Range: Extensive breeding range from Scandinavia across Siberia into the Russian Far East. All populations winter in sub-Saharan Africa.
Taxonomy: Polytypic. Subspecies are: trochilus, acredula, yakutensis.
Size: 11–12.5 cm
Identification: Differs from other Phylloscopus leaf warblers in Singapore by rather paler upperparts lacking olive tones, lack of wingbars, small bill, rather long wings and short tail. In fresh plumage during autumn, underparts, face (and depending on subspecies, crown and mantle also) are washed with yellow. Booted Warbler has a longer tail and proportionately shorter wings, bigger bill, and is overall a bulkier-looking bird despite being the same size.
Habitat: Open woodland, open country, various other kinds of secondary growth.
Behaviour/Ecology: For the entire population to winter in sub-Saharan Africa, eastern Siberian breeding birds complete a longitudinal migration into western Siberia before moving south, covering up to 12,000 km during their journey.
Local Status: Probable vagrant
