# Birds of Singapore > The complete, up-to-date, and richly illustrated catalogue of Singapore's birds — a free public resource by the Bird Society of Singapore. Every wild and established introduced species recorded in Singapore gets an account with photos and detailed descriptions, alongside live eBird sightings, an occurrence model that maps where and when each species is most likely, and the public Singapore Bird Database of assessed rare-bird records. Birds of Singapore began in 2016 as the Singapore Birds Project and is now the flagship public resource of the Bird Society of Singapore (the island's birding community, ~100k visitors/year). It unifies three data sources into one site: curator-written species accounts, a per-species occurrence model fitted on ~10 years of eBird data, and eBird's live recent sightings. Notes for LLMs and crawlers: - The site is a single-page app, so following a link returns the app shell; the human-readable content for each page is rendered client-side. The sections below name the canonical entry points and their URL shapes. - Dynamic pages use stable, human-readable slugs (e.g. `/species/cotton-pygmy-goose`) that mirror the legacy singaporebirds.com URLs. - The JSON API lives under `/api/*` and is access-controlled; it is not a public data feed. ## Core pages - [Home / Today](/): Recent notable bird sightings across Singapore, refreshed from eBird. - [Singapore Bird Checklist](/singapore-bird-list): The full checklist of birds recorded in Singapore. Add `?detailed=true` for the detailed view, or browse the photo [gallery](/gallery). - [About](/about): What this resource is, how it is built, and the project's history and contributors. - [Glossary](/glossary): Definitions of birding and taxonomy terms used across the site. ## Species & taxonomy - [Species account](/species/cotton-pygmy-goose): One page per species — identification, habitat, behaviour, range, photos, conservation status, a 52-week occurrence curve, and a map of where it is most likely. (Replace the slug with any species, e.g. `/species/blue-throated-bee-eater`.) - [Family account](/family/anatidae): Family-level overview grouping the species in that family. (Replace the slug with any family.) - [Occurrence map](/map): Shaded-cell map showing the relative likelihood of encountering a species by location and time of year. - [Targets](/targets): Plan a trip — surface the species you are most likely to add at a given place and time. ## Records & data (Singapore Bird Database) - [Database](/database): Browse records assessed by the Singapore Bird Records Committee — rare and notable sightings reviewed since 2021. - [Record detail](/database/10001): A single assessed record with photographs, observer notes, and the committee's decision and reasoning. (Replace the id with any record.) - [References](/database/references): Sources and literature underpinning the records database. - [About the database](/database/about): How records are submitted, reviewed, and voted on. ## Reading - [Blog](/blog): Quarterly roundups, identification guides, news from the scientific community, and birders' stories. - [Blog post](/blog): Individual articles live at `/blog/{slug}`. ## Optional - [eBird upload](/ebird): Upload a personal eBird CSV to compute life-list ticks and trip targets. - [Downloads](/downloads): Downloadable datasets and resources. - [Legacy site](https://singaporebirds.com/): The previous singaporebirds.com site this resource replaces 1-to-1.
