BirdSoc SG's second eBirder Challenge lands in September 2026, with the spotlight on shorebirds. Submit checklists and either report over 100 individual shorebirds, upload a photo of a flagged shorebird, or do both for an extra chance to win some of our new merchandise as a prize.
BirdSoc SG's second eBirder Challenge is here – and this time, the spotlight is on shorebirds! Between 1st and 30th September 2026, submit checklists in Singapore reporting the shorebirds you see, and you could win some of our new merchandise!You can complete the challenge and stand a chance to win a prize by completing either of the following, and completing both gives you an extra chance in the draw:Report more than 100 individual shorebirds in total, whether in a single checklist or summed across multiple checklists submitted on different days in September.Upload at least one photograph of a flagged shorebird – one bearing a leg flag or band – as media on your checklist.Checklists submitted must also fulfill the following requirements to be eligible:Submitted for September 2026 (not historical observations) in SingaporeMust be a complete and public checklistInclude counts for all species (no X’s)At least 1 species recordedBetween 3 minutes to 3 hours longLess than 4 km distanceCheck out our article on eBird Best Practices to help make sure your checklists are top quality! As with our other challenges, having more species on your checklist won't increase your chances of winning – but for this shorebird challenge, your shorebird counts do, so count carefully and accurately!We suggest using the eBird mobile application as it allows you to record your route via GPS tracking while you bird, and to attach photos directly to your checklist in the field. In addition to being a more convenient way to record your observations, this data can also be used for projects like eBird Status & Trends.Prize winners will be contacted via their eBird-registered email by the first week of November.So what are you waiting for?
